After season one of Cobra Kai wrapped up, fans couldn’t wait for the second season. There were plot threads that had yet to be resolved, the return of John Kreese, and moments that hadn’t taken place. Going into season two, Cobra Kai had a few questions that it needed to answer.

While it did address many of its questions raised in the first season, Cobra Kai left some unanswered after its second season. Perhaps season three will answer them. In the meantime, we’ll be looking at five questions season two of Cobra Kai answered and five it didn’t. Spoilers for season two if you haven’t seen it.

ANSWERED: WHY DID KREESE RETURN?

The last scene of Cobra Kai season one saw John Kreese, Johnny’s old sensei, enter the Cobra Kai dojo. Apart from a brief line, no one was quite sure why he returned. In season two, he seemed that he returned because he wanted to change his ways and get a second chance.

Unfortunately, Johnny eventually saw through that and noted that Kreese was still trying to show students a dark path. At the end of the season, Kreese had officially taken over Cobra Kai, ready to claim his spot at the top of the valley once more. At least Johnny isn’t with him this time.

UNANSWERED: WILL JOHNNY AND DANIEL WORK TOGETHER?

There was speculation leading into Cobra Kai season two that Johnny and Daniel would finally put their differences aside and work together as a team to face Kreese. That remains to be seen, as Kreese didn’t fully take over Cobra Kai until the end of the second season.

That said, the potential is still there for the two senseis to unite, as Johnny is no longer in Cobra Kai and Daniel looks as if he won’t be supporting Miyagi-Do by his wife’s wishes. In the second season, the two were shown to enjoy each other’s company, so there is still hope.

ANSWERED: WILL MIGUEL BECOME A VILLAIN?

Instead of having an ending straight out of The Karate Kid, Cobra Kai went for a subversion of expectations. Despite Robby being essentially the new Daniel LaRusso, it was Miguel Diaz from Cobra Kai who ended up winning the All-Valley Tournament. Unfortunately, he did it by going for Robby’s injury and taking advantage of it.

This final episode suggested that Miguel would become a villain in season two. Thankfully, Miguel still has redeeming qualities to him. At the end of the second season, he could’ve broken Robby’s arm, but he chose to show mercy because he wanted to take Johnny’s advice.

UNANSWERED: WILL JOHNNY AND ROBBY RECONCILE?

It’s no secret that Johnny Lawrence wasn’t there for his son. After changing his ways in Cobra Kai, though, he made an effort to step into Robby’s life. However, it seemed too little, too late. Robby was already a student for Daniel LaRusso and was spending time with Miyagi-Do.

Season two doesn’t change the dynamic much, but in the end, Robby was forced to go to his dad for help. Robby seemed thankful, but he wasn’t with his dad because he wanted to be. They’re at least on speaking terms, but it remains to be seen if they’ll start to forge a new relationship.

ANSWERED: WILL SAM JOIN MIYAGI-DO?

Being the daughter of Daniel LaRusso, Sam LaRusso had to know karate in some fashion. This would be proven early through season one, as she used it to stop Kyler from taking advantage of her as well as playfully sparring with Miguel. She was shown at the end of the season doing some advanced technique, which suggested that she would be joining the fight in the second season.

This proved to be true, as Sam was the second student for Daniel’s revived Miyagi-Do. Her training largely served as a refresher course to what her father already taught her, but she proved to be an extremely competent fighter.

UNANSWERED: DOES ALI RETURN?

Ali was the famous girlfriend of Johnny Lawrence in The Karate Kid. She ended up leaving Johnny and fell for Daniel, which was partially why the two formed such an intense rivalry in the first place. With Kreese already returning for Cobra Kai season two, some theorized that we could see Ali Mills’ return as well.

While the show doesn’t answer if she’ll come back or not, the second season ends with a shot of Johnny’s phone with a friend request from Ali. This leaves the door open for her to return in season three, but we’ll see if it pans out.

ANSWERED: IS MIGUEL OR ROBBY THE BETTER FIGHTER?

Season one of Cobra Kai ended with the All-Valley Tournament, where the star students of Johnny Lawrence and Daniel LaRusso duked it out for the first place trophy. Miguel won the fight, but mostly because he exploited Robby’s injury. As a result, no one knew who was the better fighter.

Season two answered that question. During the big school fight between Miyagi-Do and Cobra Kai, Miguel and Robby had a no-holds-barred battle. While both took some serious punches, it was Miguel who came out on top. He had the opportunity to snap Robby’s arm but showed mercy. Unfortunately, Robby took advantage of that.

UNANSWERED: WILL ROBBY OR MIGUEL BE WITH SAM?

With Miguel and Sam forming a romantic relationship in Cobra Kai’s first season that ended a few episodes later, it was unclear how that was going to change going forward. With her and Robby training in Miyagi-Do together in the second season, it made sense that they would have some feelings for each other.

However, the second season complicated that by having her and Miguel still have feelings for each other as well. Because Robby nearly killed Miguel at the end of season two, it’s safe to say that their relationship is over. No one knows who she’ll end up with.

ANSWERED: DOES JOHNNY TEACH HIS STUDENTS DIFFERENTLY?

Johnny Lawrence, in training his students the karate that he learned, was faced with the harsh reality that they would turn out just like he did under the tutelage of John Kreese. This is why, in season two, he tried to give his students a different lesson.

He even pointed to the Cobra Kai creed on the wall and said that they were just black words on a wall. He told them that it was sometimes okay to show mercy. Living one’s life just like the Cobra Kai creed stated turned one into a person that they wouldn’t like. Johnny even regretted starting Cobra Kai again.

UNANSWERED: WILL ANTHONY LEARN KARATE?

While Sam LaRusso was always planned to join Miyagi-Do, the same can’t be said for Anthony LaRusso. This video-game-loving, bratty kid was just there in Cobra Kai. A few times, throughout both seasons, Daniel encouraged his son to join Miyagi-Do to learn karate, but Anthony refused each time.

In both seasons, Anthony was one of the few characters who had no progression. He preferred to live his life the way he wanted. As a result, he had much less screen time in season two, making room for the characters who had arcs throughout the show. He almost had an interest during the All-Valley Tournament.
