Miley Cyrus fans were worried for a second, but despite being spotted out and about with women other than her, Cody Simpson spent Christmas with the entire Cyrus family. He even gifted his beau with a museum quality skull necklace for the Christmas holiday, driving home the point that he’s extremely into the “Slide Away” singer. The couple shared photos and videos of them enjoying tea and playing guitar by the Christmas tree.
Prior to her relationship with Simpson, Cyrus had a fling with Kaitlynn Carter of The Hills: New Beginnings fame. The two were photographed making out in Italy just weeks after Carter’s split with Brody Jenner on the same day Cyrus announced her split from Liam Hemsworth. Those photos were what pushed Hemsworth to file for divorce officially.
Cyrus and Simpson got together shortly after her fling with Carter, but fans were buzzing about their relationship status prior to the holiday due to some recent paparazzi photos of Simpson. Cosmopolitan reported that Simpson was seen with the likes of Playboy model Jordy Murray in New York City, then later accused of kissing another girl at the Little Sister Lounge. Simpson denied both instances, supporting his claim with a few loving posts on Instagram over Christmas, and his agent backed him up, shutting down any speculations of Simpson cheating on Cyrus by saying, “There is absolutely no truth to this story. Cody went out with a friend and all the rest is fabricated. Period.”
While Cyrus’ personal life has been in the public eye for years - especially this past summer with her multiple romances - Simpson has been making a steady climb into the public eye. This past October, Simpson won the Australian version of The Masked Singer, just two months before the US version’s finale aired. So, both Cyrus and Simpson had a busy 2019, just in very different ways.
After watching Cyrus suffer through a painful breakup with ex-husband Liam Hemsworth and a quick fling with Carter, fans were doubtful that she would ever settle down again. When she and Simpson started gushing about each other on social media, fans were put at ease. People sometimes forget that celebrities are people, too, and going through a breakup or divorce is just as difficult in the limelight as it is for anyone else. While Cyrus fans are generally supportive of whatever path she chooses to take, they’re comforted knowing that Simpson wasn’t actually cheating on her, especially during the holiday season. As far as what the future brings for this dynamic duo, it doesn’t really matter. What matters is that they are happy together and in a healthy and loving relationship.
