The Television Critics Association has announced the nominees for the 2019 TCA Awards, with plenty of newcomers and returning favorites getting recognition. The list of nominees includes at least one big surprise in the form of Catherine O’Hara’s nomination for Individual Achievement in Comedy from the underrepresented Schitt’s Creek. Elsewhere, Jodie Comer earned a nod for her performance as Villanelle in season 2 of Killing Eve, while Phoebe Waller-Bridge earned plenty of nominations for season 2 of Fleabag.
The nominees this year also feature some of the splashier new series, like Netflix’s Russian Doll and HBO’s Chernobyl. Netflix earned nominations for its historical drama miniseries When They See Us, and also for its cooking series Salt, Fat, Acid, Heat, starring Samin Nosrat. Meanwhile, HBO’s Leaving Neverland documentary and Lifetime’s Surviving R. Kelly both managed to nab nominations in Outstanding Achievement in News and Information.
