A Chinese smartphone manufacturer launched a new entry-level smartphone in the Indian market today, called Coolpad Mega 5A. The Mega 5A is a low-end specs smartphone and available exclusively via offline stores in India. The key specs of the phone are, 18:9 aspect ratio display, Android 8.1 Oreo OS, dual rear camera sensors and metal body. The Mega 5A is a successor of the Coolpad Mega 4A which launched in April this year.

CoolPad Mega 5A specifications

Coolpad Mega 5A comes with 5.45-inch IPS display that supports 1440 x 720 pixels of resolution and offers 18:9 aspect ratio. The phone comes with the full metal body, the dimensions of the body are 148×70.7×8.9mm and it weighs 148 grams. It powered by Quad-core CPU under the hood which clocks at 1.3 GHz along with Spreadtrum SC9850K chipset. There is 2 GB of RAM and 16 GB internal storage available on board along with micro SD card slot which supports 128 GB external storage.

The Mega 5A featured with vertically placed dual camera sensors on the back side of the phone along with f/2.0 aperture, PDAF, and LED flash. There are an 8-megapixel main camera and 0.3 megapixels VGA secondary camera on the back panel. On the front side, there is a 5-megapixel camera for selfies and video calls along with dedicated selfie flash. The phone packed with 2,500 mAh capacity battery inside the body that powers the phone. It runs on Android 8.1 Oreo operating system out of the box.

In terms of connectivity, The Coolpad Mega 5A comes with 4G LTE, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, FM radio, Micro-USB, and a 3.5mm headphone jack. The phone also has an accelerometer, ambient light sensor, fingerprint sensor, and proximity sensors on board. On the back side, there is a fingerprint scanner for added security, you can also unlock the phone. It featured a face unlock feature to unlock the Mega 5A smartphone smartly.

The company launched the Coolpad Mega 5A in the Indian market and is available at Rs. 6,999 price tag. The phone is available only in single Gold color. The phone is available in the 8 different market in India, including Andhra Pradesh, Delhi NCR, Haryana, Karnataka, Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu, Telangana, and Uttar Pradesh. It is available to buy from August 16 (today).

At this price and specs, the Coolpad Mega 5A will direct compete to Xiaomi Redmi 5A and HMD Gloval’s Nokia 2.1 smartphones.
