The types of membership available and their benefits 

Costco has three membership types available to its clients:

Executive Gold Star Membership

$120. 00, that is a $60 membership fee with an additional $60 upgrade fee, paid annuallyA globally valid Household Card. How Do I Sign Up as a Member of Costco? 

Getting a Costco membership is a pretty easy procedure. There are three ways of signing up:

Visiting any Costco warehouse and signing up in person. Calling the member service number given on their website so they can sign you up. Select the type of membership you want and sign up online via the Costco website

What Are the Necessary Requirements for one To Become a Member of Costco? 

There are a few requirements to be met for one to get a Costco membership. These rules apply to both Standard and Executive Gold memberships. 

One must be age 18 or above. Costco can deny you membership or revoke your membership without necessarily having to disclose the reason. Members are to abide by Costco rules as well as privacy policies of the company which are modified from time to time Costco members will have to present a valid photo identification from the United States, Puerto Rico, Canadian Federal State or a valid passport.  To sign up, one is needed to provide a valid photo identification from either the United States, Puerto Rico, Canadian Federal State, or Provincial governments or any valid passport and a valid home address.  

Acquiring Costco Membership Cards and Fees Applicable 

The membership fee is applicable for one 12-month period starting the enrolment date of the Primary Cardholder. The membership card can be used at any Costco outlet but cannot be transferred to another person You must have the card with you when shopping at Costco. Substitutes such as copies of photos of the cards are not acceptable.  The membership card must have a recognizable card number and your face on it without any obstruction. In case of a distortion of the card, you will provide a passport and photo identification from the United States, Puerto Rico, Canadian Federal State, or Provincial governments or any valid passport and a valid home address.  

How many people can be on my Costco membership card? 

Costco card allows a maximum of two people on the Gold Star Membership. This will include a primary member and a household member who lives at the same address as the primary holder and is over 18 years of age. The primary member has the right to pick the recipient of the second card and can change the information whenever they want to by visiting the account details on the Costco website or visiting a Costco outlet. 

Can non-members shop at Costco? 

Non-members of Costco can shop online. Unfortunately, they will be required to be a 5% surcharge on every item they purchase. Fortunately, with a Costco shop card, you can access any outlet and even claim the benefits if there are any that come with your shopping. 

How do I pay for the Costco membership fee? 

You can send in your payments via mail, pay online through the Costco website and if you are paying through your visa, it can be automatically deducted annually, on the first day of the month of renewal. The visa option is convenient since you do not run the risk of forgetting to make payments. You can also renew at the register while checking out at any Costco outlet, after shopping. 

What happens if I do not make payment for my membership card? 

Unfortunately, you will be required to pay for even the period you were not using your card. This means that you will have to pay from the time of your card’s last expiry date. It is therefore important to renew on time to avoid unnecessary expenses. Alternatively, you can cancel your membership and register again when you are ready to pay the annual fees again or are ready to shop at Costco.
