Counting On star Lauren Duggar showed off her baby bump in a touching Instagram post. Lauren, who is married to Josiah Duggar, opened up about the ups and downs the couple has been through over the last year.

The Duggar family was made famous by their reality TV show on TLC, originally titled 17 Kids and Counting, which then, with the addition of two more family members, was finally changed to 19 Kids and Counting. John David, the third child born to Jim Bob and Michelle Duggar, has been in the spotlight since 2008. In the newest installment in the Duggar franchise, TLC focuses on the family’s older children as they celebrate milestones, get married, and raise their own families. Josiah Dugger, who has been filmed by TLC cameras since he was a child, is now 22 years old and starting his own family. In June of 2018, Josiah married 20-year-old Lauren Swanson, just seven months after announcing their courtship, and the whirlwind romance between this young couple has been ideal. They wasted no time starting a family, and Lauren became pregnant just months after they got married (though in October of 2018, Lauren suffered a tragic miscarriage).

Back in May of 2019, the happy couple announced that they were expecting a “rainbow” baby. The picture included a single white balloon floating in the background, which the couple explained represented the baby they miscarried. On the couple’s shared Instagram account, they have posted several pictures of the Lauren and her baby bump, and the couple recently went to Instagram to post a picture of Lauren with a long blue dress on, holding her belly, and writing about the significance that this baby has to them and the struggle they have faced this past year. The couple wrote: “Life is such a gift and something I cherish more now, with all that we have gone through this past year.” Check out the image below:

Even though it has been good news for the couple to be expecting a second child after their miscarriage, the couple explained that it hasn’t been an ideal pregnancy. The hardships that Lauren and Josiah have faced over their first year of marriage haven’t been easy, but they’re not letting the struggle take away from their faith, writing, “I treasure every moment and I am reminded daily that life is truly a miracle from God.”

Although these newlyweds have already been through tougher times than most newly married couples in their first year of marriage, Lauren and Josiah haven’t let their tragedies define them. As the couple prepares for a baby girl this fall, the other Duggar women will be preparing for theirs. Counting On will be returning with a new season with all new courtships, family reunions, and adventures later this month. It’s certain that the new season will show more of Lauren and Josiah’s whirlwind romance, their heartbreaking miscarriage, and their journey on the way to becoming parents.
