Courteney Cox was mistaken for Keeping Up with the Kardashians’ Caitlyn Jenner in an Instagram photo with David Spade and The Bachelor’s Nick Viall. She has responded to this issue of mistaken identity, and fans are loving it.

The Light’s Out with David Spade host posted a photo of himself, Cox and Viall to his Instagram account last week. Spade made the post to plug an upcoming episode of his late-night talk show on Comedy Central in which both Cox and former Bachelorette contestant Viall were appearing. However, an unusual thing started happening shortly after he made the post. Fans immediately started to comment on the picture of the trio saying they thought Cox was actually Caitlyn Jenner. The comments ranged from fans questioning if the photo was Jenner to fans stunned that they made the mistake.

More surprising, however, was Cox’s reaction to the mixup. The Friends alum took to social media herself and posted on Instagram to comment on the mistaken identity. Her response was hilarious as she poked a bit of fun. Cox commented on how she was a bit surprised by the Caitlyn Jenner comments, even though she didn’t think she looked like herself in the photo. She included many of the comments by fans, like one Instagram user who said, “Totally though Courteney was Caitlyn Jenner.” She went on to include a split screenshot of the two, highlighting the resemblance and even admitting she could see it herself.

Fans and celebs alike started responding to Cox’s post. Social media users were thrilled to see Cox taking the photo drama in stride and having some fun with the situation. Even Matchbox Twenty frontman Rob Thomas commented with the laughing-crying emoji. Many took a moment to point out how beautiful Cox is. The best response came from her Friends costar and best friend Jennifer Aniston, who is fairly new to the platform, who posted twice with laughing-crying emojis and again with “You’re hilarious. Oh my GOD I love you ❤️”. Friends fans were excited to see the online interaction between the former costars, evidence that Rachel and Monica really are friends forever. Cox post has quickly eclipsed the original and is rapidly approaching a million likes.

Whether you see the similarity or you not, the mistaken identity provided a good laugh. Cox’s response was just more proof to her fans that her sense of humor extends beyond the screen. Meanwhile, Keeping Up with the Kardashians fans are still waiting for a response from Jenner, though it is hard to imagine the I’m a Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here! star could be anything less than thrilled at being mistaken for a beautiful actress 15 year her junior. Hopefully, she’s going to fire back soon with an equally entertaining response.
