Crash Team Racing Nitro-Fueled and the Call of Duty Endowment are teaming up to help deliver a unique DLC kart for the game, with proceeds going to help support veterans in need of proper jobs. The remake of Crash Team Racing (combined with several tracks and character from further sequels) has been a great investment thus far for fans. Every month brings with it a new Grand Prix that adds heaps of new content like costumes, kart parts, characters and a new track. Best of all, players can earn all of these for free.

Admittedly, there was a bit of backlash when it was confirmed that Crash Team Racing Nitro-Fueled would be recieving microtransactions, but they don’t feel neccessary at all – much to the credit of the game’s developer Beenox. Now there’s another microtransaction that gamers may actually agree should be in the game. Why is that? Because this new paid DLC for Crash Team Racing will actually do a lot of good for veterans in need.

Partnering up with the Call of Duty Endowment, Activision revealed the Firehawk, a special kart in Crash Team Racing Nitro-Fueled that is modeled after a classic military plane. Despite its cool aethetic, the fact that Activision is donating 100% of the proceeds to a charity that helps set up veterans across the U.S. and U.K. with higher-paying jobs is even cooler. Anyone that wants to score the Firehawk will have to purchase it quickly though, as Activision is only making it available until it generates $1 million for the foundation.

The addition of the Firehawk marks the first plane to be driveable in Nitro-Fueled and offers fans a very cool whip to put their favorite racers in. With the Call of Duty Endowment logo featured prominently on the tail of the plane, everyone will be able to recognize the players that contributed to such a great cause.

For those that didn’t already know about the foundation, “the Call of Duty Endowment has placed over 60,000 veterans into well-paying jobs earlier than anticipated and hopes to reach its goal of putting 100,000 veterans back to work by 2024.” That’s a lot of great work already accomplished by the charity, and with $1 million goal in mind there’s a lot more that can be done.

For anyone wondering, the Firehawk DLC is available in Creash Team Racing Nitro-Fueled now via Nintendo Switch’s eShop, PlayStation 4’s PS Store, and Xbox One’s Microsoft Store. Pricing varies dependent on region, so be sure to check your console’s corresponding storefront if you’re at all interested in supporting this cause through the Firehawk add-on.
