This morning the Apple iPad 3G was approved for sale in China by the Chinese government and now an Apple spokesperson has confirmed that Apple will be releasing a 3G version of their tablet into the Chinese market. Although it is confirmed that the iPad 3G is coming soon to china, the spokesperson, Caroline Wu, declined to comment on a release date or timeframe. Apple currently only sells the WiFi (WLAN as marketed in China) model in China due to government restrictions and now, with the new approval, China Unicom will be able to start selling these things legally....

A bipartisan group of US senators has introduced a coronavirus contact-tracing privacy bill, the Exposure Notification Privacy Act. If enacted, it would offer wide-ranging protections for app users… These include a prohibition on mandatory use. Nobody can be forced to use an app, and those who voluntarily choose to do so can later change their mind and have their data deleted. Contact-tracing apps must have a clear privacy policy explaining what data is collected and how it is processed....

Marvel is always looking for ways to expand its reach, coinciding with the growth of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. What started out as just films, has now seen two series hit ABC and three series debut on Netflix with three more on the horizon. However, that is not enough for the company as it looks to bring Runaways to Hulu and Cloak & Dagger to Freeform. The upcoming series has not had the easiest time getting off the ground, however....

The team took home a $40,000 bounty for their efforts on Safari, as well as a share in a $75,000 prize for co-engineering a zero-day Flash exploit. They say they will donate some of their winnings towards charities representing missing Malaysian Airplane passengers. The group say that for Safari, they used two different exploit vectors. One vulnerability was a heap overflow in WebKit that enabled arbitrary code execution. The team then used this opening to use another exploit to bypass the application sandbox and run code as if it was user privileged....

We learned back in January that Dell was working on a feature that would allow you to control your iPhone from one of the company’s Windows PCs, and that ability is now available … The Verge reports. Windows does already have a Your Phone app from Microsoft which provides some of this functionality, but it doesn’t include screen-mirroring. As we mentioned at the time, it’s unclear whether Dell partnered with Apple to make this possible, or used AirServer to turn the Dell into an AirPlay device....

Apple, Samsung, and other tech giants need to consult emergency services before implementing features that automatically place 911 calls. The plea has come from EENA, an organization representing more than 1,500 emergency services in over 80 countries. It says that although features like Fall Detection on the Apple Watch and Auto-call for Emergency SOS on the iPhone are well-intentioned and have been credited with saving a great many people, they can also cost lives…...

For its fourth quarter, Comcast reported non-GAAP net income of $3.1 billion, or 66 cents a share, on revenue of $30.3 billion. Excluding items, Comcast reported earnings of 77 cents a share, up from 56 cents a share a year earlier, according to the company’s earnings announcement. Although non-GAAP earnings-per-share for the fourth quarter were down 9.6% from last year, Philadelphia-based Comcast beat Wall Street estimates on its adjusted earnings-per-share, by four cents....
